Why 1:1?
It’s easier than ever to find a group Pilates class. Your local gym, studio, or leisure centre probably run several
…so why would you pay significantly more to do a session by yourself?
I love teaching group classes, they can offer an enriching shared experience at an accessible price. But of course in most classes the movements are chosen to provide a rounded session for the majority. This isn’t a bad thing, most of us need to practice the same skills (mobility, balance, posture and strength) to move and feel our best. However, because our unique habits, histories, hormones, commitments, and emotional and physical health distinctly influence the way we learn and experience our bodies, a group class might not be the best environment to create the substantial change you seek.
Many of us have experienced back pain, but how yours originates, and whether it is chronic, will drastically influence the approach we take when working to your needs in a private session. Let’s be clear, all movement is good movement. Provided you’ve been cleared to exercise by your doctor, and it’s an appropriate level, going to a class will almost certainly leave you feeling better, and classes offer a fantastic way to maintain positive movement habits. But, by investing time in understanding your circumstances and unique movement patterns on a 1:1 basis, I can work at your pace, with language that resonates, to offer you an understanding of your body and personalised tools that can empower you to create lasting change.
