Teachers need teaching too

I’ve been lucky lately to support some wonderful teachers in their own practice. At The Hale Pilates Studio (where I teach two days a week) I’ve been working with Kana. She’s currently visiting, but owns Sky Pilates at home in Tokyo.

In my home studio in Monton I taught Rachael who runs Pilates Levenshulme as well as performing as a professional Belly Dancer.

Both Kana and Rachael have incredible body awareness and practice regularly, but there’s nothing quite like having new eyes and a fresh perspective on your movement.

Teachers; I know all too well how impossible it can feel to fit these sessions in, but they are so important. Finding time to check in with our own bodies and give ourselves the nourishing experiences we give others, keeps our teaching authentic, sustainable and helps us avoid burnout.

I also just love the shorthand and shared passion that comes with teaching teachers, so if you’re a movement professional needing to fill your own cup, get in touch (and ask me about instructor discount!).
